Our History

Tarbet Education Network was born out of a simple, frustrating reality: the "Specialist Island". Founded by Bryson Tarbet, M.M.Ed., a neurodiverse elementary music educator, the journey began with a mission to support his own peers through ThatMusicTeacher.com.

As an educator in the trenches, Bryson saw firsthand that general professional development often ignored the unique logistical and emotional needs of the arts classroom. He began building a support system—including the Elementary Music Summit® and Elementary Music EDGE™—that focused on content-specific training, sensory inclusivity, and sustainable systems.

After achieving proven success in connecting thousands of music educators with professional development that actually "got it," Bryson recognized that music teachers weren't the only ones feeling isolated. Whether in the art room, the gymnasium, or the library, specialists everywhere were paying a "translation tax" on generic training.

Today, Tarbet Education Network represents the expansion of that original mission. We are taking the proven framework that transformed the music education space and opening the doors to support all arts educators. By building a unified front, we are ensuring that no specialist has to reinvent the wheel alone.

Our Mission

Our mission is to equip arts educators with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to create inclusive, engaging, and impactful classrooms. We believe that inclusivity matters, ensuring that every student has access to meaningful arts experiences. Community empowerment matters, which is why we foster spaces where educators can connect, collaborate, and grow together. Advocacy matters, as we champion the vital role of arts education and amplify the voices of teachers. Through high-quality professional development and practical resources, we help arts educators feel confident, prepared, and supported in their teaching journey.

Our Values

  • Inclusivity Matters: We believe that every arts educator and student deserves access to an inclusive and equitable learning environment. We are committed to breaking down barriers and fostering classrooms where all students can thrive, regardless of background, ability, or experience.

  • Community Empowerment Matters: We know that arts educators do their best work when they feel supported. By creating spaces for collaboration, networking, and shared learning, we empower teachers to uplift each other and strengthen their impact in their classrooms and communities.

  • Advocacy Matters: We are dedicated to advocating for arts educators and the essential role of music in a well-rounded education. Whether through professional development, resources, or community-building, we amplify teachers’ voices and support them in making meaningful change in their schools and beyond.
